About
Hi there. Thanks a lot for visiting my website. I hope you enjoy it and find something useful or something that makes you smile!
So here's a bit about me. First and foremost I am a mum (of two gorgeous children, Jamie and Flavia) and a wife (to a gorgeous hubby). When I'm not clearing up the trail of destruction that they leave in our house I am busy doing all things triathlon and cycling; coaching, training and racing.
I compete for Great Britain in their age group team and have won multiple World, European and National titles across triathlon and duathlon (both road and off-road).
I got into triathlon relatively late in my sporting career. As a kid I was sports-mad. My first loves were athletics (particularly long jump, hurdles and heptathlon to county-level) and netball (playing county, national league and British University-level).
I first qualified to race for the Great Britain triathlon age group team in 2009 (aged 38) in a duathlon (run-bike-run) in Budapest, a year after having my son. I was ridiculously excited to qualify; I couldn't sleep so I went downstairs, opened up a box of Ferrero Rocher and watched two episodes of Desperate Housewives. The race was a bit of a disappointment as at the time I wasn't knowledgeable about nutrition and on the second run I could only manage a shuffle to the finish line. Nevertheless it was an awesome experience and I was hooked.
The following year I got a silver medal at the European Triathlon Championships and since then I've medalled at every European and World Championships I've raced at. The highlight was being crowned World Champion in 2013.
In 2014 I turned my focus to off-road races as I needed a new challenge and at the time I thought I was quite a good mountain biker! I love training and racing off-road - just being outdoors.
I'm a trained sport and exercise scientist and in 2016 I was awarded Fellowship of the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences. In 2017 I decided to have a career change as my job meant too much time away from my family. Triathlon coaching seemed an obvious path. I'm particularly passionate about giving children opportunities to be active and enjoy sport. I get a real buzz from seeing people improve.
My current focus is on mountain bike racing for Velocipede Cycles Racing.
