Kemsing Primary School has been invited to a triathlon event on Wednesday 25 September at Sevenoaks School from 4-6pm. It is for Years 5 and 6 and teams of 4 are needed. We have teamed up with Claire Hitchings to run a free ‘try a tri course’ to enable all Year 5 and 6 children to learn more triathlon and give it a go in a fun and friendly environment. It also provides a fair way to select children for the triathlon event.
There is no fee to attend this course.
To participant, you need to complete a sign up form by Monday 9 September, 6pm. No late sign ups can be accepted.
The dates are as follows:
1.Bike helmet (that fits).
2.Road-worthy bike (with bar end plugs, working brakes, pumped up tyres and working chain and gears). It is the parent’s/guardian’s responsibility to ensure that his/her child’s bike is in a safe condition to ride.
3.Sports kit, trainers, water bottle and a healthy snack.
Claire Hitchings competes for Great Britain in their age group team and has won multiple World, European and National titles across triathlon and duathlon (both road and off-road). She is a British Triathlon Federation Level 2 Diploma triathlon coach. She is sports first aid trained, Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checked and insured through the British Triathlon Federation. She holds a sport science degree and a PhD in sport psychology. She has attended the sports coach UK Safeguarding and Protecting Children workshop as well as the NSPCC Designated Safeguarding Officer course.
Mark Horne works as full-time swim and triathlon coach; holding the ASA (Swim England) Level 2 coach and a British Triathlon Federation Level 3 triathlon coach qualifications.
